Viagem aos Canais do Mundo

Na Wikipedia encontrei uma lista de cidades assemelhadas à Veneza.  Embora em inglês, é fácil ler a lista das cidades por seus nomes próprios.   Isto facilita buscar fotos e imagens destas cidades para completar-se uma coleção de Venezas ao redor do Mundo.   Dubai não consta da lista mas já foi mostrada pela Chacha.   Bruge e Amsterdam constam da lista e já foram mostradas, a primeira por Luisa e a segunda por Yolanda (se não me engano).    A cidade do México construida sobre um lago, possui o parque Chapultepec com canais onde os mexicanos, nos dias dedicados ao lazer, passeiam em pequenos barcos, fazendo pic-nics.   O delta do rio Paraná na Argentina, tem a cidade de El Tigre (que pode ser considerada uma cidade-parque) , com cerca de mais de 10.000 residências de médio e grande porte construidas em meio a quintais-parques, ao longo de inumeráveis rios-canais (no YouTube há diversos videos sobre El Tigre).   Portanto, podemos acrescentar, à lista de Wikipedia, as cidades de Dubai, México e El Tigre.  Vamos à caça destas cidades singulares e maravilhosas.  abs.

Canals are so deeply identified with Venice that many canal cities have been nicknamed "the Venice of…". The city is built on marshy islands, with wooden piles supporting the buildings, so that the land is man-made rather than the waterways. The islands have a long history of settlement; by the 12th century, Venice was a powerfulcity state.

Amsterdam was built in a similar way, with buildings on wooden piles. It became a city around 1300.

Other cities with extensive canal networks include: Delft,Haarlem and Leiden in the Netherlands, Brugge inFlanders, Belgium, Birmingham in England — which has 35 miles of canals, to Venice's 26 miles —, Saint Petersburg in Russia, Hamburg inGermany, Berlin in Germany , Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Cape Coral, Florida in the United States.

Liverpool Maritime Mercantile City is a UNESCO World Heritage Site near the centre of Liverpool, England, where a system of intertwining waterways and docks now being developed for mainly residential and leisure use.

Canal Estates (commonly known as bayous) are a form of subdivision popular in cities like Miami, Florida, Texas City, Texas and the Gold Coast, Queensland; the Gold Coast has over 700 km of residential canals. Wetlands are difficult areas upon which to build housing estates, so dredging part of the wetland down to a navigable channel provides fill to build up another part of the wetland above the flood level for houses. Land is built up in a finger pattern that provides a suburban street layout of waterfront housing blocks.
